Privacy policy

This policy covers Beastwolf (beastwolf.com). It explains what we collect when you visit the site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can control it. Plain English, no corporate boilerplate.

Summary

Beastwolf uses cookieless analytics for page views and Core Web Vitals. We do not use Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or behavioural profiling. We do not sell data. When you click an affiliate link (usually to Amazon), the destination site sets its own cookies and tracks you under its own policy — not ours.

What we collect

Aggregate site analytics (cookieless). We use Vercel Web Analytics, which records the page you loaded, the referring site if any, your approximate geographic region (city or country level, derived from your IP), your device type and browser, and how long you stayed. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies and does not fingerprint visitors; it produces aggregate statistics only. We cannot link a visit to a real person.

Performance measurement (cookieless). We use Vercel Speed Insights to measure page-load performance (Core Web Vitals). This runs on a small percentage of page views and records anonymised timing data only.

Server request logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, records standard HTTP request logs (URL, timestamp, IP, response code) for a short period for reliability and abuse detection. These logs are not linked to any personal profile and are automatically discarded per Vercel’s standard schedule.

Content delivery. Article content is served from Sanity’s content delivery network. Sanity may log the standard HTTP metadata for each request. Sanity does not process visitor data on our behalf beyond serving content.

Newsletter (not live).When the newsletter opens (see the “Join the Pack” block on the home page), we will collect the email address you provide if you choose to sign up. The newsletter is not live yet. When it is, this section will name the provider and describe the additional data flow.

We do not collect your name, phone number, home address, payment details, or precise location. We do not track you across other sites. We do not sell data.

Cookies

Beastwolf itself does not set any cookies. The analytics we use are cookieless.

Third-party cookies on click-through. When you click an affiliate link (usually to Amazon), the destination site may set its own cookie so it can credit us with a commission if you buy something within a set window (typically 24 hours for Amazon Associates). That cookie is set by the destination site, not by us, and is governed by their privacy policy. If you clear or block those cookies, you have no obligation to us and we have no way to see the outcome.

No advertising or retargeting. We do not use any advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, third-party behavioural trackers, or cross-site fingerprinting on Beastwolf.

How we use the information

The aggregate analytics tells us which articles get read, where visitors come from, which pages load slowly, and where people drop off. We use it to decide what to write next and to catch technical problems. That is the entire purpose.

We do not use it to build a profile of you, to target ads, or to sell to anyone.

Third parties we rely on

Beastwolf uses a small set of services to run the site.

• Vercel Inc. Hosting, edge network, Web Analytics, and Speed Insights. See Vercel’s privacy policy.
• Sanity.io.Headless content management — stores our articles and serves them to your browser. See Sanity’s privacy policy.
• Amazon.com Inc. (Associates program). When you follow an affiliate link, Amazon receives the request and applies its own privacy terms. See Amazon’s privacy notice.

How long we keep it

Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights are aggregate statistics and do not contain individual identifiers to retain. Vercel request logs are retained per Vercel’s standard schedule, typically days for edge logs. If you subscribe to the newsletter when it opens, we will keep your email address until you unsubscribe.

Your choices

You can block third-party cookies through your browser’s settings, and the site will continue to work normally. If you use a privacy-focused browser or extension (Brave, DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, uBlock Origin), it typically blocks affiliate cookies by default — and Beastwolf will still work.

Because the analytics on Beastwolf are cookieless and do not track you individually, there is no per-visitor opt-out to enable. If you would prefer not to load the analytics scripts at all, a network-level blocker like uBlock Origin will block them without breaking the site.

When the newsletter opens, every email will include a one-click unsubscribe link. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Visitors from the EU, UK, California, and Australia

We rely on legitimate interestas the legal basis for the small volume of cookieless aggregate analytics processing described above, under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR. Because the analytics are cookieless and do not identify individuals, we do not consider it necessary to seek consent for this processing — but if you disagree, blocking the analytics domain in your browser stops it immediately.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or Australia, you have the right to request access to any personal data we hold about you, to request its deletion, and to object to processing. In practice we hold almost nothing that could be linked to you individually. If you email hello@beastwolf.com we will respond within thirty days.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information under the meanings those terms carry under California law.

Australian visitors (Privacy Act 1988 / APPs). You have the right to request access to and correction of any personal information we hold about you under the Australian Privacy Principles.

International transfers

Our servers, analytics, and hosting providers operate globally. Data logged by Vercel, Sanity, and Amazon is likely to be processed in the United States and other jurisdictions. Those providers rely on standard contractual clauses and other approved transfer mechanisms to move data across borders.

Children

Beastwolf is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under sixteen (or under the local age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided data to us, email hello@beastwolf.com and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. There are no user accounts to compromise. If a provider we rely on suffers a breach that affects data traceable to Beastwolf, we will note it here and, where required by law, notify affected visitors directly and the relevant regulator within the timeframes their law requires.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy from time to time as the site changes. Substantive changes will be flagged by an updated date at the top and, where the change materially affects your rights, by a note on the home page for a reasonable period. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
