These terms govern your use of Beastwolf (beastwolf.com). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Who we are

Beastwolf is an independent publication about big powerful dogs — the gear that holds, the food that earns its price, the training that works, and the lifestyle of living with a dog that could pull you over. We are not affiliated with any manufacturer, breeder, or trainer program.

The nature of what we publish

Everything on Beastwolf is opinion and information intended for a general adult audience (age of majority in your jurisdiction; sixteen or older at minimum). It is not veterinary advice, not medical advice for the reader, not behavioural therapy prescription, not legal advice, and not financial advice. We are careful with what we say, but we are journalists and enthusiasts, not veterinarians or credentialled behaviourists.

The important veterinary caveat

Anything about your dog’s health, symptoms, medication, dosage, diagnostic questions, or behaviour that could indicate a health problem belongs in a conversation with a licensed veterinarian who has met and examined your specific dog. Beastwolf does not know your dog. We do not diagnose, prescribe, or provide clinical guidance. Do not delay veterinary care because of anything you read here.

If your dog shows symptoms that concern you — refusal to eat, lethargy, vomiting, bloody stool, sudden behavioural changes, breathing difficulty, bloat, or injury from a bite, fall, or collision — contact your vet or an emergency animal hospital immediately. Use this site as one input among several, not as a replacement for a vet who can see your dog.

Editorial position on product recommendations

Beastwolf presents tradeoffs and the reader chooses. We do not tell you which specific product to buy for your specific dog. We do not claim to have tested, used, or measured products we have not tested, used, or measured. Our recommendations describe what a product IS and DOES from published spec and design, and frame category-fit rather than definitive winners. When two products are close, we say they are close and describe the tie-breaker.

Verify anything that matters — specifications, prices, safety recalls, and product availability — before you buy. Product design, formulation, and pricing change over time.

Affiliate links and how we earn

Some links on Beastwolf are affiliate links. When you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. See the full affiliate disclosure for the details. The commission never changes what we write.

Content and intellectual property

All content on the site — articles, headlines, photography, illustrations, design, and code — is copyright Beastwolf unless another source is credited. You may:

• Read the site, share links to it, and quote briefly with attribution.
• Print or save articles for your own personal reference.

You may not:

• Republish articles in full on another site.
• Use the content to train machine-learning models, large language models, or any automated system, in whole or in part, without written permission.
• Scrape the site programmatically. Our robots.txt and User-Agent restrictions reflect our current preferences; please respect them.
• Sell or license any of our content or design.
• Use the Beastwolf name, logo, or brand identity to imply endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship of anything we have not endorsed in writing.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code from any compiled asset on the site.

Links to other sites

We link to third-party sites for products, sources, and further reading. We have no control over those sites, do not endorse everything on them, and are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data. When you follow a link, their terms and privacy policy apply to your visit.

The newsletter

When the newsletter opens, subscribing is voluntary. If you subscribe we will send occasional emails about new articles and things worth your attention. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. See the privacy policy for what we do with your email address.

User conduct

We do not currently host comments, uploads, or user accounts. If we add those features later, we will update this section. In the meantime: please do not attempt to disrupt the site, gain unauthorised access, transmit malware, interfere with other visitors’ use, extract data at scale, or use the site for any unlawful purpose.

Disclaimers

The site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or completeness. We try to be accurate and to update articles when the underlying facts change, but we do not guarantee that content is current, complete, or free of errors. Prices, product availability, breed-club guidance, and best practices change over time. Verify anything that matters before you act on it.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Beastwolf and anyone associated with producing the site (including contributors, hosts, and service providers) will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the site, your inability to use the site, or your reliance on its content. This includes any harm to you, your dog, your household, or your property from following advice about big-dog gear or training, from products purchased through our links, from actions taken based on our reviews, or from any interruption or error in the site.

To the extent liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these terms or the site is limited to the greater of AUD $100 or the total amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which for a free content site will typically be zero).

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable consumer protection law.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Beastwolf, its contributors, and its service providers from any claim, loss, damage, cost (including reasonable legal fees), or liability arising from your misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of any third party’s rights.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms that cannot be resolved by discussion will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of South Africa. Where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence apply, those laws are not affected by this clause.

Force majeure

We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, network infrastructure failures, or strikes.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Entire agreement

These terms, together with the privacy policy and affiliate disclosure, constitute the entire agreement between you and Beastwolf regarding your use of the site and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Substantive changes will be flagged by an updated date at the top. If you continue to use the site after a change, you are agreeing to the updated terms.
